The activity took place in 2 primary schools located in the city of Rethymnon, Crete during the last week of May. Approximately 50 students attending the 5th and 6th grade participated in the activity.
The students had the unique opportunity to “experiment” using a STEAM educational kit in order to build a watermill with the help of Lego education spike prime. In this way, children are introduced to basic programming concepts by building fun robots and smart devices. At the same time, students are developing critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills, while having fun learning through play. The activity was completed upon filling a questionnaire regarding how much students enjoyed this activity in relation to their learning preferences.
