We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our Green Campus Hackathon organized by the “INVITE” Erasmus+ project and its consortium (https://invite-erasmus.eu/) during 13th and 14th of November 2024. This event brought together a diverse group of students, professors and academic staff to brainstorm and develop innovative solutions aimed at making Higher Education campuses more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Event Highlights
Over the course of 2 days, teams worked tirelessly to design and prototype their ideas, guided by mentors from various fields and countries. The atmosphere was electric, filled with inspiration and collaboration.
We were proud to host 15 teams with 59 participants from 8 different European and Latin America countries. Each team presented their unique ideas and solutions via a pitch deck video to a panel of judges and their co-participanting teams in order to be evaluated. The projects covered a range of topics, including waste management, energy efficiency, recycling and many more.
Winning Projects
After a rigorous selection process, the winners of the Green Campus Hackathon were:
- 🥇 Team EcoEngage won their 1st place winning solution entitled “SystainHUB”! The project idea was boosting recycling on campus with a student-only system! QR code-activated stations for items like coffee cups & bags, points for prizes, & voting on campus projects. Students help build a greener campus, backed by university & partner support.
- 🥈 SherlockOhms team earned runner up place ! “GreenRevolution” project turns classrooms into eco-friendly havens, empowering students to learn and innovate for a greener future.
Looking Forward
The Green Campus Hackathon was not just about competition; it was a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and a shared commitment to sustainability. We believe that the innovations showcased during the event have the potential to make a lasting impact on our campus and beyond. Congratulations to all teams for their hard work and innovative thinking!
