Abstract: The “HERITAGEVIEW” project, guided by an integrated territorial approach (according to the “Territorial Agenda 2030” of the European Union), aims to protect the cultural heritage of Troodos and Sitia and highlight its timeless value. In addition, “HERITAGEVIEW” aims to connect the rural culture of these areas with the local economy so that it will contribute to increasing the added value of local products and services and protect and preserve those cultural resources. The project partners will attempt to transform the “generic” cultural resources of the Troodos and Sitia areas (such as cultural monuments of all historical periods or intangible cultural heritage) into “specific” ones by mobilizing various actors of the two regions and using innovative digital tools and modern technologies such as AR, VR and digital twins. To this line, “HERITAGEVIEW” seeks to incorporate intangible characteristics of local heritage into commonplace resources by anchoring them in a specific space, giving them distinctiveness and competitiveness. This link between resource, space and heritage creates uniqueness in the final touristic product and creates a cycle of value production. Among the main targets at the end of the project, is the development of a distinct identity (branding) regarding the unique cultural product that will be created from “HERITAGEVIEW” actions and tasks.
